Media piracy is something that I stand strongly against, I believe that is something of value it should be paid for and supported, whether it be music, film, tv, or even eBooks.
I believe in this for the simple fact that to make a record, or a movie, and everything else that falls under this heading TAKES MONEY, and alot of it. They do not come from thin air, as well as money, a hell amount of time, effort and emotion is also poured into this. The only way to create more product is through more money and more often than not subsequently through the sales of your last release. All of this is made FOR US and we disrespect it by stealing it, and not showing our thanks or giving full credit.
I’ll admit, as a young, naive, primary schooler I did steal music, as it was what everyone else taught me and it was how we were all raised to think what was right and just when it is not.
I feel lucky enough to have opened my eyes to the truth of media piracy and the disgusting wrath it holds on our planet.
Now, I’m not denying that I do download tv series that don’t air in Australia simultaneously with the US but I will always buy the DVDs after hand to support the show and pay for what I have watched.
I have also just started crossing off albums in my iTunes that I have decided to buy hard copies for, as I believe this is the true form of an album. The accessibility and convenience of buying on iTunes is excellent for if you’re traveling and wanting to listen to an album, but from now on if I can make it to a record store to buy the hard copy I will.
I hope you’ve made it to the bottom of this and have taken into account some of the points I’ve made.
